Summer Employment

The Quassapaug Sailing Center, a non-profit educational institution, runs the Sails & Trails Camp. QSC is located on beautiful Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury, Connecticut. Our sailing, paddling, and nature programs are designed to build confidence and develop lifetime skills in small boat sailing, paddling, and nature exploration, empowering campers in their ongoing adventures.

Our Sails & Trails staff is comprised of certified sailing instructors, lifeguards, and counselors, all American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certified. Our counselors are experienced hikers and naturalists, eager to share their knowledge through a curriculum designed for experiential education.

Camp Dates for 2025

Set up & Training June 16th-20th.
Camp runs from June 23rd – August 15th.
Clean up week from August 18th - 20th.

Certifications

Our staff are required to be highly skilled and certified in a variety of areas. All certifications must be obtained prior to the start of Camp for offer letters to be valid. Please note that while the Quassapaug Sailing Center may, in some cases, provide certification training to selected employees, prospective employees should not assume it will be provided. It is the responsibility of candidates to obtain the required certifications on their own before their employment commences.

QSC is committed to investing in its staff's professional development. If you accept a job offer with QSC and the offer is contingent on obtaining specific certifications, we will reimburse you for the course registration costs after you pass the certification and work for us during the specified period.

Upcoming Training Opportunities for 2025

Quassapaug Sailing Center is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Level 1 Sailing Instructor Course on June 13, 14, and 15, 2025. This course will be available to employees looking to obtain the certification before the summer starts.

In addition, we are considering running courses in First Aid/CPR/AED, and Lifeguarding just before our training week in 2025. These sessions are currently to be confirmed, so please stay tuned for further updates.
